To our Fans
« on: January 06, 2017, 05:58:04 PM »
To the fans of the Save or Die podcast,

It’s a truism that all good things come to an end, and it appears that our time on the Save or Die podcast is no exception. The three of us (DM Mike, Liz, Jim) have had a great time with the podcast, and we appreciate WGPN for giving us a venue to talk about our favorite D&D game. Yet life moves on, and we regret that life’s roads are taking us away from our comfy home on SoD.

We’d like to thank our fans for being the best support we’ve had for all these years. You folks are great, and whenever the work or research got us down, your enthusiasm for this little project gave us the energy to keep on trying and to make the podcast better and better. If we have to leave, we’re glad to leave on such a high note.

Be proud of all that Save or Die has done over the past 6 years…you’ve earned it!

Best to all,

DM Mike   DM Liz   DM Jim

Whoa really? This is definitely sad news. SoD was an excellent show and you guys always gave great discussions. It is understandable that you're all busy, you and Liz with Victorious and Jim with DCC & MCC.

Definitely sad to hear this news, but I wish you all the best. Thanks for all the work you've done.

Sad news, as Save or Die was one of the few podcasts I eagerly awaited.  :-[

Thanks, you three, for your entertaining work over the years, for all those trips down the dusty road, kobolds, and tacos.

All the best wishes, of course, for your future endeavors.

Thanks guys, we appreciate the kind fwords and sentiments. We'd thought about a farewell show, but the idea was not to be. :(

Besides, we'd probably have just gotten all maudlin and blubbered down the dusty road. ;)

Best to all,

Mike

I was sorry to read about this.  I have been listening to SoD since the early episodes, and have enjoyed every one.  I hope to hear from you again, either on podcasts or writing here and there about your on-going projects.  Please don't be strangers, Jim, Mike and Liz.

Any chance of a finale episode?

Seems that SoD isn't completely over. This was posted on their facebook page:

Official Announcement from Wild Game Productions:
Wild Games Productions is pleased to announce that the Save or Die Podcast will continue to bring listeners regular discussions on all things classic D&D. An agreement has been reached with James Michael Spahn, publisher and freelance author, to head the podcast as both Lead Host and Creative Director.
In recognition of the contribution made by founding hosts Mike and Liz Stewart, as well as Jim Wampler, Save or Die will continue releasing episodes under the title of SAVE OR DIE: Expert Edition. The show will remain focused on classic fantasy role-playing games with a focus on the various incarnations of Dungeons and Dragons dating from 1974 to 1999 and the various retro-clones produced to emulate those games, such as Red Box, Holmes, Labyrinth Lord, and Swords & Wizardry. Wild Games Productions and Mr. Spahn look forward to the future as Save or Die carries on a legacy of old school gaming into 2017 and beyond.
Let's all congratulate James Michael Spahn as he sets up the show and gets things back on track. James has filled out the cast for the show already and is recording as we speak!

Mike, Liz, and Jim.:  thanks so much for all the enjoyment and education you've provided with SOD.  And thanks to all the other hosts and contributors too.  What a great podcast and I'm sorry life is pulling you away from it.  Hope that things are going well otherwise.  (and drop me a note if you ever want to play via Skype!)

And it is great news that James Spahn is taking over.  Here's to many more good years.

Again, thanks especially to Mike and Liz for making it happen those six years.

When I saw the new Expert edition episode had been released, I had to come by and confirm my biggest fear. All good things must come to an end. So sad. I'll miss you guys - from Liz's ever cheerful 'Hello', to Mike's curmudgeonly 'BAH' and Jim's DCC and Tim Kask anecdotes - it was always a treat to listen to the latest podcast. Thanks for all the great episodes and good luck with whatever comes next.

PS: I got Victorious for Christmas. Well done, Mister Stewart. Now, I just need my copy of Mutant Crawl Classics to arrive and my SOD game collection will be complete.
Gnomes are cool. Gnome Illusionist Thieves are WAYYY cool!
