Star Wars / Re: WEG Star Wars Rereleased by FFG

The only thing I could think of is if it gets really popular, than people will be buying them up? or maybe if they make it difficult to distinguish between the original and the new one. I'm looking forward to it either way.

Maegnarval has got it down.

I haven't used it myself, mainly because I mostly run it online now and they don't have exhumed obscura in .pdf (or didn't). I thought the mass combat system was nice and simple. I need to read through the whole thing more in depth though.

Wow a little bit of everything!

Traditionally when I run AD&D I use the core 3 and any extra monster books. I may use the DSG, WSG, or UA for my own personal prep, or for a ruling I wasn't anticipating, but I usually don't hand out all of those options to the players.

Now you have me intrigued to use them all, and maybe even that odd tome Exhumed Obscura from ebay.

I like your mix of classes for the basic. I think they're well rounded, and with the sub-classes still give the players some options if they want them. Would you be offering even more sub-classes in the advanced rules?

I like the idea of the vagabonds. Kind of more of what an adventuring thief would be rather than just a common 'thief'. Would healing be done by the magicians? or would there be any magical healing at all?

For awhile I was making my players spend the gold to earn their XP so they couldn't just hoarde it. Seemed to work alright :)

Awesome! I always enjoyed both of yours. I knew jayson was looking for his a couple of years ago, so glad to know they still exist somewhere!

Houstonian myself. Luckily I was very blessed and my personal home, my parents' home, and my sister's home were all safe from Harvey. My sister got a little bit of water, but only right near the door, didn't flood her house or anything. Most of my friends in the area were also fortunate in this regard.

Sadly many, many people were affected. I don't know anyone in the gaming community that had issues. My FLGS Dragon's Lair North Houston was serving warm meals in their store for people and helping gather and distribute supplies. I know Matt Finch is also in the Houston area, I believe from a very different part of town from me, though I'm not really sure on that, but I believe I've heard he is also safe.

Thank you for the concern Vile! I certainly hope to hear from others in affected areas. I believe most of the other Texans on this board (that I know are in Texas) are farther north like Dallas area, so should be mostly safe.

Awesome Doc! Glad you had a good time. I really have enjoyed 5e, but I still feel very pulled to OSR versions of the game.  Hope the game keeps going and you continue to enjoy it! I really think you'd also like playing a bard!

Is there any way to get these without itunes for those who don't do the whole Apple thing?
You don't need anything except iTunes, actually... even if you only download to episopdes, you can play them via any mp3players you want

To be honest, for some even iTunes is too much. I personally don't want anything to do with apple software on my PC.

I found the original records (has more than what has been reuploaded on RFI's website currently) at https://archive.org/details/ActualPlayPodcasts/QBS00.mp3

Nice! I was wanting to listen to BoS and Jayson's AP campaign a few months ago. Glad to know BoS is up! Is Jayson's up too?

That is sooooooo awesome! I've almost got my aunt interested in a game, but I think she's still self-conscious about her dignity.

I got my aunt and wife to play once. They were fighters, and tried to smack every person they thought was "a bad guy"
;D that gave me quite the chuckle thank you for sharing! hopefully Shiftkitty's aunt will come around!

Not really, by level 20, your proficiency bonus is +6 and you ought to have a strength of 20 by then for a +5 to hit. So you should be rolling with at least +11, more if you've magically upped your stats or have magical weapons. Thats a THAC0 of 9 I believe.

There aren't nearly as many +/- in 5e as 3 or 4. Numbers are much more reasonable.
