I will roll the idea around. I really don't like boxed/read aloud text.
I realize you are looking for something less read aloud (or I think you are at least) and more easily distinguished room description separate from the DM only info of the room.

First Edition AD&D / Re: DM first, player later
« on: April 28, 2016, 10:11:59 PM »
I clocked 6 months as a player before I started DM'ing (Oct 1980 - March 1981). In that time, we changed from Holmes to Moldvay, then later to Menzter before I switched schools and to AD&D.

I think functioning as a DM without being a player was much more difficult in the TSR Era than in the WotC Era. Policing characters and juggling rules required knowledge of being a player.

General Discussion / Re: Conan the Barbarian Movie 1982

I don't disagree, PT. Just quoting where that ending comes from.

I recall seeing it the theatre when I was a young. HBO a few years later, and was one of the first 20 films I bought on VHS when I had my own household, and within the first 50 DVD's I bought.
I don't own the special edition, and hope that I can watch the film in Blu-Ray without the added ending. The other scenes mentioned on IMBD like the comments he makes to the woman he is to breed with, etc, are welcome additions, but the ending seems tacked on and misaligned.

The DVD special edition includes added scenes between Subotai and Conan, the princess makes more of an appearance at the ending when Conan is sitting on the steps thinking, and is with Conan while they infiltrate Thulsa Doom's domain, and Conan and the princess walking towards the sunrise together. There's also a verbal epilogue by Akiro the Wizard at the ending credits.

From IMDB, Alternate Versions

"What Happened In Between"
A collection of 14 side encounters to help fill in the gaps between adventures or complete a level before heading to that next big adventure.
Will support OSR, 5e and Pathfinder (not clear if 1 mega product, 2 or 3 separate products)
Written by Logan McNeil, with Kevin Watson

Logan is also writing some of the lore for the 2nd part of the Haunting of Hastur series, "A Zikurat in the Clay"

Here is an article about using Lost Temple of Forgotten Evil in a 1e campaign

LToFE has dual stats for OSR (including 1e) and 5e. There might be a couple of places where I didn't explicitly state the OSR equivalent of a 5e mechanic, but I think I got most of them.

The PDF is available now.
The PoD in premium color will be available in a month or so.
The PoD is not detached cover, and has a slightly different layout because there is no option for detached covers or printing maps on the inside of the cover.

The edited PDF that I uploaded this morning should have all of these items fixed.
Let me know if I got them all

Dark Naga / Print Proof in hand.
« on: April 08, 2016, 09:34:18 PM »
The printer was able to overcome some issues and get the proof to me today.
It looks good.
I will pour over it this weekend, and baring any major issues, place the print order Monday.

That one has been fixed. Check to be sure you have the version that includes Tim Snider as an editor. That one has a lot of typo's cleared up.

Sadly, I either have them (core game) or am not collecting them (FR).
Great list and competitive prices. I expect you will do very well.
Sorry to hear you couldn't get a portable hole and avoid selling off anything.

The Temple was supposed to be 5' squares, and I supplied all dimensions to Alyssa. She altered some rooms for a better fit and rotated the map from portrait to landscape. I suspect those two elements account for the discrepancies, and I did not check carefully enough to catch the differences.

Sounds like .65 miles per square is right on target. The region is supposed to be a 30mile hex.
That big boat is probably more like a Viking ship than a typical fishing boat.

The stats that are inline with the adventure are OSR/TSR era descending AC stats. The 5e stats are only listed in the Bestiary. In the Bestiary the OSR/TSR stats are first, and the 5e stats are labeled 5e.

I don't think the DD series was designed to be played as direct sequels. This adventure has enough XP to get a fresh just hit level 5 character to just a little shy of level 7 if run with 5 players and no monster additions.

I hope you and your players enjoy the adventure. Print copies are in the process of having the proofs printed.
