Victorious / Cononical Victorious?

Here's the latest site post on the Victorious page, this time considering the idea of a canonical game world:

Give it a read, and let us know your thoughts!

Hey all! We survived the summer rush, so we’re back with a new episode! DM Liz reads emails, we chat about our time at the 2017 North Texas RPG Con (finally!), and a new segment about micro-games is premiered for your listening pleasure.

No Corbetts were harmed in the making of this episode. This one, anyway!

General Discussion / Wow (Dragon #120)
« on: August 28, 2017, 12:19:46 PM »
I was just reading Dragon #120 (from my Dragon CD ROM), and found something surprising. After the dubious article on the ecology of the Gas Spore by Ed Greenwood...there's an ad.

So what? You say, ads were all over Dragon magazine of the late 80s.

True, but this ad is from the Fed Gov't Printing Office. The Consumer Information Catalog to be precise, from Pueblo, Colorado (???)

I know it was an April Fool's issue, but really?

Classic D&D / B/Ex Elf non-clerical healing
« on: August 25, 2017, 10:33:37 PM »
I had a thought tonight that was inspired by a dragonsfoot post. Basic/Expert D&D has no elf or dwarf clerics, so the DF thread was designed to come up with some. Fine if you want to do that. But...

It occurred to me, why do potions of healing work on everyone, even non believers, if they are made by human clerics? Scrolls fall into that too, but my thought was this. Elves, being magic, don't have clerics. Instead they get their healing by doing some fay-magick rites involving tree sap, odd fruits, and what not...to create potions of healing. Like elven chain mail, they would be uncommon but not impossible to come across. Also, like the latter anyone can use them as they aren't tied to a specific pantheon.

Thus, as far as healing goes, no need for elven clerics. Dwarves, they will require a bit more thought. Hmmm.

Opinions?

Hello all,

I've gotten some feedback on the original post last week regarding Intelligence checks in Victorious. On this post I answer a couple of questions and give more details about the INT check and how I use it at my table.

...or "When do I think of that?"

The below link is to an article from the victorious.com page about when and how to use Intelligence checks in Victorious. It is however generic enough to be of use to anyone playing a Siege Engine RPG.

Save For Half Episode 04: "Cyborg Commando"

This 1987 RPG, produced by Gary Gygax and Frank Mentzer with Kim Mohan, has a reputation in the gaming hobby as one of the worst RPGs ever designed. But is it really that bad? Your determined Save for Half-ling DMs take a dive into this game and see if lives up to his reputation or is instead a gem in the rough!

SFH - Sideshow Episode #3 1/2: "The North Texas RPG Con Sideshow"

Welcome to the Save for Half "Sideshow"! These shows are produced erratically and oddly, much like a circus's sideshow. They are for the bits and bobs we don't feel fit into the format of the "whole number" shows, so be warned, it gets weird from here on out!

In this sideshow we are joined by Mike "BadMike" Badolato, co-owner/runner/responsible adult/sucker of the North Texas RPG Convention, which is held every first Thursday Weekend of June. During this show we cover emails we've gotten over the first two episodes of Save For Half Then we talk to BadMike about the convention, what's new, what's old, what's what for the 2017 NTXRPG Con and why YOU should be there!.
