I hope my Smart House doesn't have Myst as its OS. That would be my nightmare.

When the players do something unexpcted, that's when the game really begins.

Sounds to me like he was predicting the Wii. We've had that for years.

You get bonus XP, just for sharing that cover art.

Going back to Mike's original complaint, I see the boxed text as being there for lazy DM's. A good DM will take it as information about the room, but describe to the players what he thinks they would actually notice, in his own words. A lazy DM just reads the text.

I especially have a problem with this when I am expected to just sit there and listen to ten minutes of an NPC talking to us, without getting to interrupt. That's not roleplaying. That's storytelling.

We could post more serious content, such as AuldDragon's Monster Mythology Update Project, then promote it. People would come to read this stuff, if they knew it was here.

One of my DM's seems to draw his ideas mainly from Xena and Hercules. We sold treasure to Salmonellus, traded stories with Parentheses, got our butts kicked by a Golden Hind, got a boat ride from Barnacles, did a quest for Hades, and more. We even found Mr. Falafel's walk-through taco stand.

Our current quest is to stop a particularly charismatic ghost from ruining a wedding. Since ghosts in this game can't do much but talk, the ghost is going around telling lies to people. I think the DM also gave this ghost a Suggestion or Hypnosis ability, because it's got people doing some pretty strange things.

I don't know. It seems to me that players who think of characters as lists of powers and attacks would probably not want to play a Bard, but people who really love to roleplay seem to be drawn to that kind of character. And that player was always over the top with his roleplay. That Bard suited him well.

I was in a group with a 2e bard for a while. He was a rakasta, he played the violin and he had this spell where he played Jaccob's Ladder, passed it to a victim and they got all tangled up in it. He also had a "Flying Leap" spell, which was a variant of Jump, except it was only for jumping into combat and he got a charging bonus. He also had a high Rope Use skill, other spells that had things to do with string and he could play a few other stringed instruments that he didn't have to play with his claws. He was even named "Nyare."

I listened to your review and interview with the creators. The Lucky 13 system sounds like an interesting game mechanic.

Good. You can talk about my character. She has Monstrous Strength, Monstrous Endurance, and I kept rolling defensive powers, including Monstrous True Invulnerability. She's pretty much immune to damage. Not sleep gas, not mind control, not being polymorphed into a toadstool - just damage.

She got her heroine name in play, when somebody totalled bus by crashing it into her. She didn't even notice. Ever since then, she's been Captain Oblivious.

I just wish I could still play her, but my game master graduated 3 years ago.

Don't get me wrong. The cartoon episodes are good idea seed stock and I do enjoy hearing about them. I just want to hear podcasts on other topics, in between.
