General Discussion / Re: Megadungeons

Barrowmaze:Complete but the party fled its depths after ruining relations with the local nobility and have settled into StoneHell. Had never ran anyone through ToEE but really prefer the megadungeon over a series of rather unfortunate events that sometimes happens to a sandbox. Playing up the "craziness" and camp of StoneHell with more lovecraftian twists so my victims... I mean players are enjoying it so far

Campaign Worlds / World of Greyhawk
« on: August 31, 2016, 06:57:01 AM »
I am currently running a Labyrinth Lord campaign set in the World of Greyhawk having placed the Barrowmaze in the Mistmarsh with Helix on its border. For an expanded region dropping Basic Fantasy Morgansfort and the Chaotic Caverns along the Cairn Hills in the Duchy of Urnst. So far the 1e tretro clone feel is working just fine and its ease of use the various house rules and tweeks have made for a pretty enjoyable campaign despite the lethality of the game so far, but it is the Barrowmaze so yeah suck it up buttercup its dangerous.

Is Oerth where most of us started and so feels like 'home'? Or the home brewed worlds where imaginations ran wild? I always found it very easy to slide into Greyhawk because it was vague enough to allow for your own campaign in those massive 60 mile hexes to flourish. This return to where for me it all began has been part nostalgic and a good restart after the years of system changes and core campaign world focus that; like a bad laxative, just did not move me. Most of the players began their gaming in Toril so are not 100% familiar with the lore of the world but have been sprinkling it in with various tomes and books in game to catch their interest.

Thoughts and opinions welcome
