Glad to see the prediction of demise on The Pocket Mimic proved to be in error. :)

Our DM Chase, who ran the 2E AD&D game for the past few years as moved the game to 5E. I'm still on the fence about it, but its certainly more fun to play than 3E was. I believe in the end I'll be about 5E much as I was about 2E; not my preferred system, and I probably won't run it...but I'll certainly play it. It *feels* like D&D at least, albeit a majorly house ruled one.

...and I was curious as to what podcast would draw you away from WGPN.  ;)

Ah. Yes, 5e feels and can play like the D&D we love. I've modified it and adjusted it to mimic the deadliness of AD&D 1e, even using side based initiative as well. The DMG has a lot of great information in it to help you run "your" game and is very encouraging about in the rules about "making it your own" and "don't like it, change it" stuff. Which is excellent and I think it has to do a lot with two of the lead designers of the 5e team grew up playing in our era of gaming and heavily played AD&D 1e.

All in all, smooth game.. but like you said, still not *our* games.

Well glad you took a quick listen. The show seems to be well received among the 5e community and I have a great set of co-hosts that make the show fun and entertaining.
