The hardcover will be at Gencon with general release in September.

Goodman games has announced they will be doing hardcover editions of both B1 and B2

Quote
These editions will include the adventures as orginally printed, complete conversions of the modules to the 5E ruleset, new 5E content, and behind-the-scenes historical content!

I picked them up last night too. Don't know much much about it but I have been meaning to check it out and the price is very low risk.

Star Wars / Re: WEG Star Wars 1e
« on: March 07, 2017, 05:05:16 AM »
The team behind Classic Adventurers originally released them as staplebound books, 4 of the set. I had all 4 printed, then when they made the compilation I had the hardback done as well. All through lulu.

I haven't looked at FFG SW, but a lot of the adventures have been modified to d6 already and have played in some of those. I'm interested in picking up FFG as well. I mostly play online nowadays and am worried the dice might be a bit trickier to do online.

I have the 4 books but haven't been able to find the compilation.

Nice FJW, Classic Adventures came out pretty well. Next time I run Star Wars d6, I'll more likely use it than REUP, but both are excellent. I ended up getting hardbacks off lulu for each.

Did you get hard covers of all the 1e books?

I still have never run d6 SW. I would like to some day. I am kind of torn between d6 and the FFG SW. I really like the dice system from the FFG game but I really like the way d6 handles the force.

Doc, I assume you've had the books now, what is your impression of it? I have to say, I still have this moments my brain tells me not to like it, and there are still a few things that turn me off, but overall, I've had a blast running and playing it, and I find it is just things I think about when I'm not playing. Not issues that actually come up in play.
Only got the PHB for now.... my brain hurts A LOT in certain parts of  it...... I don't see the point in the "customisation" chapter at all.... parts of the combat chapter ... to me, the way it is written seem overly complicated.

As for character generation itself, it seems so overly backwards. Deciding on race and class BEFORE you assign the abilityscores? Weird as anything.

BUT, I've yet to actually try it out in practice, some of the things might make better sense once I've actually tried it instead of just read about it.

Let me know if you have any questions on the system.

I have really enjoyed 5e and it has become my preferred edition. Prior to 5e I rotated between BX and 4e. Standard 5e sort of sits between those two and is in a good spot for me. I have also been bringing in some 4e goodness and at other times simplifying it to be closer to BX, and it has worked great. Also very easy to use adventures from all editions.
The last part is of great intrigue to me... if I want to, for example, play through one of the Golden ones (TAGDQ series springs to mind) you say it's fairly easily doable? Would you say it would be easier with NeXT than with previous d20 editions?

Pretty easy.  You can do sort of use the stats as written for 5e. The earlier edition monsters are typically weaker but usually encountered in greater numbers. On the Wizards website they have a document to convert from earlier editions to 5e.

General Discussion / Re: D&D Classics is now doing PoD

Got my copy of Goblin's Return (Spelljammer module) and it is perfect bound. There are several PoD reviews over on rpg.net and those products are perfect bound as well (Shady Dragon's Inn, Hollow World, Ravemloft).

So if you are anti-perfect bound then beware.
