A "pause" to reflect?
« on: November 16, 2017, 02:00:42 PM »
Hello all,

I've been informed recently by a fan that he finds the editing out of pauses in our show to be annoying. In his view, its too intense (paraphrased) and doesn't give the listener time to breathe or reflect.

My question is, do you agree or disagree about the lack of pauses in Save for half?

All thoughts appreciated,

DM (Good at talkingfastand notstopping) Mike

I like it the way it is. I mean, if it is too whatever for that listener remember they can pause the broadcast themselves with their podcast player.

I don't particularly like that the pauses are removed either. The human ear is used to listening to typical cadences of speech. Taking these out does interfere with the way one listens. Your podcast, so it's your decision, but personally, I don't care for it either.

I thought I wouldn't like it.  Then I didn't notice it.

Removing them *sounds* unnatural, but as I am used to conversations with groups of guys all cutting each other off and talking over each other, so the end result is actually very natural to my ears.
Please try my old school computer game (link) and tell me what you think.

I'm okay with it! I wish I could edit the pauses out of my students' presentations ...  :-\
